The Seiko Presage SRPF50 has an automatic mechanical movement, which stores power in a mainspring, that is wound by an oscillating rotor while the watch is being worn. A mechanical watch movement is less accurate than a quartz one and requires regular servicing. It does not need a battery though and has a smoother sweeping seconds hand.
This watch has a sapphire crystal which provides a durable and clear viewing surface for the dial. This type of crystal is highly resistant to scratches and does not discolor over time. Sapphire is also resistant to most chemicals and less likely to shatter compared to other materials, making it a safer choice for the watch wearer. Thefore sapphire is a good choice for high-end wristwatches. It is of course an expensive option, compared to other materials, like plexiglass.
